Description

This philatelic sheet published by CEF honors the pedunculate oak, an emblematic species of French forests. On the visible side, the sheet features a detailed color illustration depicting a mature pedunculate oak tree, accompanied by two characteristic leaves on the left. The illustration, signed by graphic designer Huguette Sainson, is rendered in a naturalistic style with shades of green, brown, and blue, providing a vibrant and educational representation.

In the bottom left, a text specifies that the design and the issued stamp were drawn by Huguette Sainson. On the right, an explanatory text traces the history and specific characteristics of the pedunculate oak (Quercus robur), evoking its cultural and forestry importance. The sheet also includes an illustrated postmark, dated September 21, 1996, in Orléans, related to the forestry theme.

The sheet is framed by a golden border and features a meticulous arrangement, typical of CEF emissions. The presentation highlights both the botanical and philatelic aspects, with a balanced layout between text, illustration, and stamp. In the top left, the mention "N°287 du catalogue CEF" is visible, indicating the reference of this issue in the CEF series.

The left part of the sheet bears the CEF edition mentions, as well as information on printing and numbering (copy 3800 visible). The whole is printed on smooth-looking paper, with a matte finish that enhances the colors and the design.

This sheet is intended for enthusiasts of thematic philately, botany, and naturalistic illustration. It may also interest those who appreciate commemorative documents related to nature and forests in France.
