Description

This CEF (Courrier d'Entreprise à Faciale) sheet highlights the "Liberté" type of the French Republic, illustrated by a work by Pierre Gandon. On the left, there is an artistic representation of a female profile, Gandon's signature, in mauve and brown tones. The illustration occupies a central place, framed by a fine and simple border.

To the right of the sheet, a set of six French "Liberté" series postage stamps are affixed, each in a different color (grey, orange, green, purple, red, and blue-green). All these stamps are cancelled with a round "Liberté Paris" postmark, clearly visible on each visible copy. The stamps feature the same stylized female profile, characteristic of this issue.

The sheet also includes printed text detailing the history and symbolism of the "Liberté" series, as well as a reference to Eugène Delacroix's painting "Liberty Leading the People". The inscription specifies that the illustration on the sheet is signed by Pierre Gandon, a famous French engraver and stamp designer.

In the margin, the mention "N° 816 - Au catalogue CEF" is visible, confirming the edition and numbering of the sheet in the official CEF series. The sheet is presented on a smooth cardboard sheet, with a careful framing and presentation typical of CEF philatelic editions.

This sheet is intended for philately, both as a presentation medium and as a conservation object, combining artistic illustration and period cancelled stamps.
