Description

Philatelic sheet issued by the CEF (Centrale d'Édition Philatélique), featuring the "1971 Tourist Series". This document displays a composition of five French postage stamps, each illustrating an emblematic monument or site: the fortified castle of Sedan (Ardennes), the Sainte-Chapelle of Riom (Puy-de-Dôme), the Fontaine de l'Enfant in Dole (Jura), the Gorges de l'Ardèche (Vallon Pont d'Arc), and the Porte Tour du Dolder in Riquewihr (Haut-Rhin).

The sheet features color photographs of the monuments, accompanied by their respective stamps, each postmarked with a First Day cover dated June or July 1971, specific to the city concerned. The printed captions specify the name of the site and the locality. A central blue band indicates "Série Touristique 1971".

The presentation is typical of CEF sheets from the period, with a brown border, white satin-finish paper, and side perforation for binder storage. On the left margin are the mentions "N° 175 du Catalogue CEF", "MODÈLE DÉPOSÉ" (Registered Design), the publisher's address (2, rue de l’Hôtel des Postes, Nice), as well as the limited edition number (No 16621 out of 2250 copies).

The visuals and postmarks are clear and well-centered. The included stamps have different face values (0.60 F, 0.65 F, 1.10 F, 1.40 F), all stamped with First Day postmarks featuring the corresponding monument. The illustrations of the monuments highlight French architecture and regional heritage.

This sheet offers a visual panorama of French tourist sites from 1971, through thematic philately. It is a neatly presented item, suitable for album storage thanks to its perforation.
