Description

This illustrated philatelic sheet, published by the CEF (Cercle des Émetteurs de France), honors the town of Auray in Brittany. On the visible side, a careful composition presents a descriptive text about Auray, a black and white photograph of a typical street, and a French stamp franked with a "Auray - Morbihan" first-day postmark. The whole is printed on a smooth cardboard support, framed by a golden fillet, with a sober and elegant design.

The central illustration shows a picturesque view of the town, with its traditional half-timbered houses and paved streets. The text, printed in two columns, traces the history and atmosphere of Auray, evoking its heritage and famous figures. The word "Auray" appears at the bottom in a Gothic font, reinforcing the regional roots of this sheet.

The stamp visible at the top left also represents an emblematic building of the town, with a clear postmark dated "June 6, 1981" and the mention "Auray Morbihan". The left side of the sheet contains technical information about the edition: "N° 5401 of the CEF catalog", "limited edition", and the printer's mention.

The general presentation of this sheet is typical of CEF editions, recognized for the quality of their commemorative philatelic documents. The whole is intended to highlight a stamp issue, combining historical text, illustration, and first-day franking.

This sheet can be used as a presentation piece in a philatelic album or for decorating a space dedicated to Brittany or French postal history. Its design highlights the cultural richness of Auray and the editorial expertise of the CEF.
