This illustrated philatelic sheet is dedicated to the city of Charleville-Mézières, prefecture of the Ardennes department. It is a CEF (Connaissance et Etude de la Philatélie Française) sheet, presented in its original plastic sleeve, typical of CEF editions. The sheet features a detailed historical text about the city on the left, printed in black on a white background, and a colorful illustration of Place Ducale on the right, with an integrated stamp insert harmonizing with the main image.

The visual part on the right includes a large photographic visual in red and purple tones, representing an emblematic architectural view of Charleville-Mézières. A blue and red city coat of arms is also visible in the upper right part of the sheet. The integrated stamp, in the same hues, reproduces the façade of Place Ducale, accompanied by a black "CHARLEVILLE MEZIERES 1er JOUR" commemorative postmark.

The text printed on the left traces the architectural and administrative history of the city, evoking Place Ducale, the construction period under Charles de Gonzague, and the evolution of the city until the 19th century. The mention of the engraver Jacques Gauthier is also present, highlighting the artistic quality of the sheet.
