Description

This illustrated philatelic sheet, published by CEF (Covers Éditions France), honors the Château de Ripaille. On the visible side, an artistic representation of the castle occupies the left part, accompanied by a sketch-style portrait of a historical figure wearing a tiara. The red and white coat of arms of Savoy is also visible, as well as a simply applied first day cancellation in the upper right, marked "Château de Ripaille 74200 Thonon-les-Bains".

The composition mixes painted illustration and printed text framed by a golden fillet. The illustration, signed Odette Baillais, features nuanced colors: cream and ochre tones for the walls, brown roofs, and green vegetation in the foreground. The text, written in French, details the history of the castle, but only the beginning is legible in the photo. In the upper right, a stamp also illustrating the castle stands out, with a face value of "2.90".

The text area on the right is printed in black on a white background, with a fine font. The left part of the sheet, visible in the photo, shows the typical perforation of CEF sheets, as well as a numbering "5554" in the lower left, probably indicating the copy number. In the margin, the edition mentions specify "CEF" and the reference "N° 847 of the CEF catalog".

The general condition observed is clean, with no obvious signs of wear, folds, or stains on the visible part. The colors of the illustration remain vibrant and the inscriptions perfectly legible on the displayed side.

Used item, sold as observed. The sheet visible in the photo has a clean surface and fresh colors. No major apparent defects on the exposed side.
