Description

This philatelic sheet, published by the CEF (Centrale d'Édition Philatélique), honors the Farman F60 Goliath aircraft, an emblematic machine of early 20th-century aviation. The visible side features a stamped postage stamp, illustrated with a technical drawing of the aircraft with the inscription "FARMAN F60 GOLIATH". The sheet also includes a special cancellation dated March 31, 1984, in Toulouse, directly related to the aeronautical theme.

To the right of the sheet is a detailed illustration of the Farman F60 in flight, rendered in predominantly beige, brown, and gray tones, faithfully reproducing the style of biplanes of the era. The image shows the aircraft in profile, with its double-wing design, visible wheels, and open cockpit. The finish of the drawing adds an artistic touch to the whole.

An explanatory note occupies the lower part of the sheet, tracing the history of this civil aircraft derived from a military model, used notably for passenger transport on the first commercial lines in Europe after World War I. It also features the signature of the painter J. de Lartigue, who illustrated the sheet.

On the left side, the "Technical Data" section details the main characteristics: empty weight, loaded weight, speed, range, dimensions, and engine. The sheet is printed on white paper, with a neat presentation, typical of CEF editions. The visible perforation on the left side suggests a presentation suitable for binder filing.

The copy number "5915" is printed at the bottom left, indicating a limited edition. The mention "N°716 du catalogue CEF" is also visible at the top left, confirming the editorial origin and the reference of this sheet in the philatelic series.
