Description

This philatelic souvenir sheet issued by the CEF pays tribute to Félix Guyon, a major figure in urology, born in 1831 in Saint-Denis de la Réunion. On the left side of the sheet, there is a stamp bearing the effigy of Félix Guyon, accompanied by a commemorative postmark dated 1979 with the inscription "SIU 79" and "Saint-Denis les Paris". The stamp bears the inscription "Félix Guyon 1831-1920" and a face value of 1.00 franc. The whole is presented on a white background, framed with a golden fillet. The right side of the sheet is occupied by a black and white photographic portrait of Félix Guyon, signed "Photo Roger Viollet".

Below the portrait and the stamp, a detailed text traces the career of Félix Guyon and his contributions to medicine, particularly modern urology. The typographic characters are clear and legible, with a neat and structured layout, typical of CEF issues. The sheet is inserted into a transparent plastic sleeve, revealing on the left the edge of the support with the indication "Modèle déposé – CEF – Feuillet officiel" (Registered model – CEF – Official sheet), which confirms the philatelic and commemorative origin of the item.

The sheet features a dominant of white, black and gold tones, with quality printing. No printing defects or noticeable alterations are visible on the exposed side. The biographical text occupies the lower half of the sheet, while the upper part highlights the philatelic aspect with the stamp and the special postmark. The reference "12065" is visible at the bottom left on the edge of the support.

This type of sheet is sought after for its careful presentation and its documentary interest, combining both a philatelic item (first-day cancelled stamp) and biographical content on a French scientific personality. The whole is typical of CEF productions, known for their seriousness and educational aspect.
