CEF Beech Hornbeam 1989 philatelic sheet, deciduous tree stamp
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This philatelic sheet published by CEF features the theme of the European Beech tree (Hêtre Fayard). The visible side shows a brightly colored illustrated insert: in the center, an artistic representation of a majestic beech tree by Huguette Sainson, with a village landscape, stylized figures, and a cloudy sky in the background. To the left, three beech leaves are reproduced in detail, highlighting their characteristic shape.
On the right side, printed text details the importance of the European beech in forestry and its traditional uses. Below the main illustration, the title "HÊTRE FAYARD" is clearly indicated in capital letters. The artist's name is also mentioned, as well as the original design attributed to Huguette Sainson.
The sheet includes a matching illustrated stamp, canceled with a "Arbres de France – Hêtre Fayard – 25 Sept. 1989 – 45 Orléans" postmark, featuring a circular illustration of trees. The whole is presented on a cardboard backing, with the CEF header and issue number (1450) visible on the left side. The backing has a smooth, white-gray finish typical of CEF philatelic editions.
The sheet is perforated on the left, indicating a presentation suitable for a binder. The printing of the text and illustrations is clear, with no visible defects on the shown side. The colors are well preserved, with a predominance of green, brown, and light shades, enhancing the naturalistic and educational aspect of the subject.
The inscriptions "Édition CEF" and "N° 788 du catalogue CEF" are also legible on the border. This sheet highlights the dual artistic and pedagogical dimension, typical of French philatelic thematic issues.
Condition
