This philatelic sheet published by CEF pays tribute to Virgil, the famous Latin poet. On the visible side, there is an elegant layout framed by a golden border, including an explanatory text printed in black on a white background, as well as a French 2.00 franc postage stamp featuring an agricultural illustration. The stamp is cancelled with a legible postmark bearing the words "Hommage à Virgile" (Tribute to Virgil) and the date October 20, 1980, in Paris. Below, a reproduction of an ancient mosaic occupies a central place, depicting a scene of plowing and sowing, in reference to Virgil's work.

The sheet is printed on satin-finish paper, inserted into a transparent plastic sleeve perforated on the left, typical of CEF issue presentations. In the upper left corner, there is the mention "N° 800 du catalogue CEF" (No. 800 of the CEF catalog) as well as publication details and a limited edition of 13,300 copies. The individual number "5859" is printed in the lower left corner.
