Description

This philatelic sheet, published by CEF, pays tribute to the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris, inaugurated in 1986. The visible side features a graphic illustration by Jacques Gauthier, Grand Prix de Rome in engraving, in predominantly black tones with touches of color, creating a visual effect of lines and screening. To the right, an official postage stamp "La Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie" is affixed, accompanied by its first-day cancellation dated March 14, 1986, in Paris. The title "LA CITÉ DES SCIENCES ET DE L’INDUSTRIE" appears in the upper right, printed in capital letters.

The sheet is printed on white paper, in a rectangular format, and features a layout typical of CEF commemorative issues. The left side margin contains the publishing information: "Émission CEF", "Modèle Déposé", "CEF", as well as the reference "N° 828 du catalogue CEF". The side perforation, characteristic of sheets to be filed, is also visible.

A large text area occupies the lower part of the sheet, detailing the history and mission of the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie, as well as the architectural and scientific context of its creation. The text, printed in black, is framed by a black line. The mention of the limited edition and the characteristics of the issue are visible on the left border.

The stamp features a stylized illustration of the building, with the emblematic sphere and the inscription "LA CITÉ DES SCIENCES ET DE L’INDUSTRIE". The First Day Cover cancellation completes this philatelic set.

This sheet stands out for the quality of its printing, the richness of the illustration, and the presence of detailed explanatory text, ideal for highlighting a significant event in the history of science and architecture in Paris.
