Description

This illustrated philatelic sheet, published by the CEF (Connaissance et Étude de la Philatélie Française), highlights the theme of typography. The visible side presents an explanatory text printed in black titled "LA TYPOGRAPHIE" (TYPOGRAPHY), accompanied by an artistic illustration depicting a stylized face and graphic elements evoking layout and typographic composition. The left part of the sheet displays technical information, including the limited edition number (here, "3079"), as well as the publisher's mention and legal deposit.

The sheet includes a 5.00 franc stamped stamp, illustrated with a stylized female portrait, surmounted by a round stamp "TYPOGRAPHIE PARIS Raymond Gid". The whole is signed in the plate by Raymond Gid, poster artist and master typographer, whose signature also appears in the introductory text. The dominant colors are black and white, with a few touches of color (blue, red) in the illustration on the right.

The layout is carefully executed, in the style of CEF commemorative sheets, with perforations on the left edge allowing for filing in a philatelic binder. The detailed text traces the history and techniques of typography, from Gutenberg to the modern era, and cites emblematic names in the field.

The sheet is in good visual condition on its front side, with no major apparent defects on the image. The corners are clean, the printing of the text and illustrations is clear and precise, and the stamp appears well preserved. The individual numbering of the edition is printed at the bottom left.

The visible inscriptions confirm that it is an official CEF issue, limited to 33,800 copies, with the mention "Tirage limité" (Limited edition). The mentions "Édition CEF – Modèle déposé" (CEF Edition – Registered Model) and "Le Renouveau Commercial du Timbre Français" (The Commercial Revival of the French Stamp) also appear on the border.
