Description

This CEF philatelic sheet features an issue dedicated to the "Nature de France" series, specifically on the theme of minerals with marcasite. On the visible side, there is a neat layout typical of CEF editions, with an information column on the left and a large central illustration on the right. The main image, artistically inspired, depicts a stylized figure surmounted by a blue crystal evoking marcasite, accompanied by an explanatory text detailing the characteristics of the mineral.

On the lower right part of the sheet, a French 2.00 franc postage stamp dedicated to marcasite is affixed, with a "PREMIER JOUR" (First Day cover of Paris dated September 15, 1980) cancellation. The stamp depicts a stylized illustration of marcasite, consistent with the mineralogical theme of the sheet. Next to the stamp, the text "MARCASSITE - NATURE DE FRANCE - MINÉRAUX" is clearly legible in the cancellation, reinforcing the authenticity of the issue.

The sheet is presented in a perforated plastic sleeve, typical of CEF philatelic presentations, with the mention "CEF" visible on the left edge and the copy number "6471" printed at the bottom. The paper has a smooth, white appearance, with clear printing of texts and illustrations. The text area on the left contains information relating to the series, marcasite, and the stamp issue, accompanied by the official mention "CEF" (Courrier d’Événement Philatélique Français).

The set is in good visual condition, with no obvious signs of wear, creases, or stains on the visible side. The printing remains clear, the colors (blue, purple, black, gray) are well preserved, and the stamp and cancellation are perfectly legible. The laminated sheet presentation suggests good preservation for philately.

Condition

Used item sold as is. Visible side in very good condition, no noticeable defects observed. Plastic sleeve and sheet intact on the visible side.

Did you know? Marcasite was long used in jewelry, particularly in the 19th century, for making costume jewelry, belt buckles, or jewelry boxes. Its metallic appearance and brilliance contributed to its popularity as an economical alternative to diamond.
