Description

Figurine depicting a rabbit, made of hand-painted ceramic in a Mexican folk art style. The piece has a stylized and sleek shape, with soft, rounded lines that evoke the animal in a reclining position. The surface is light-colored, finely mottled, and adorned with floral and abstract motifs painted in black, brown, blue, and beige. The details are expressively applied, typical of Mexican popular craftsmanship from the 1980s.

The rabbit is decorated on the visible side with stylized plant motifs, punctuated with touches of blue color and dark brown areas, evoking leaves or feathers. The eyes are represented by two black circles, and the muzzle is painted in dark gray, accentuating the contrast with the rest of the body. The ceramic's texture reveals a natural grain, reinforcing the object's artisanal and rustic appearance.

The figurine is placed on an openwork white doily, highlighted on a carved wooden piece of furniture. No markings, signatures, or inscriptions are visible on this side. The whole exudes a naive and authentic charm, characteristic of Mexican folk art creations from the late 20th century.

The matte finish and the natural nuances of the ceramic, combined with hand painting, give the object a unique decorative presence. The style and technique evoke the artisanal production of Mexican workshops specializing in decorative ceramics from the 80s, a period when stylized animal motifs were particularly in vogue.
