Description

This antique eraser, visible in the photo, is shaped like a stylized pig. The object is entirely colored in a vibrant yellow, characteristic of vintage office supplies from the 50s/60s. The surface texture features detailed modeling, evoking an animal's fur, with a clearly recognizable head, a rounded snout, and raised ears. The silhouette is compact, ovoid in shape, with no added elements or visible removable parts.

The pig is depicted lying down, with its legs not visible beneath the body, giving the eraser a smooth appearance on its underside (not visible in the photo). No markings, logos, or inscriptions are visible on the displayed part. The matte finish and regular grain of the eraser are reminiscent of school objects produced in the second half of the 20th century.

The solid yellow, without additional patterns, accentuates the playful and decorative aspect of this eraser, while remaining true to the simplicity of antique supplies. The object is placed on a patinated piece of furniture, highlighting its bright color and retro style.

Zoomorphic shapes, here the pig, were common among novelty erasers distributed in schools or offered as small gifts in the 50s/60s. The detailed representation of the snout, eyes, and folds of the fur demonstrates particular care taken in the molding.

The eraser appears to be in good overall condition, with no visible chips or cracks on the displayed side. However, there is a slight patina and some traces of use, consistent with a vintage item preserved for several decades.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. Slight marks and patina visible on the surface, with no major apparent defects on the exposed side.

Did you know? Animal-shaped erasers became very popular in the 1950s-1960s, particularly in Japan and Europe, where they were often given as school rewards or small promotional items. Their simple and playful design made them iconic accessories of the vintage office.
