Large dried gourd old ethnic wabi sabi tribal natural
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Large dried gourd presented in a heritage setting, probably of artisanal origin. Its characteristic double-bulb shape is reminiscent of traditional models used in many cultures, with a spherical base topped by a smaller second bulge and a long, curved peduncle still attached. The surface features a rich natural patina, marked with spots, shades of brown, ochre and beige, as well as darker areas attesting to the age and natural drying of the fruit. Variations in texture and colour enhance the authentic and organic appearance of the piece.
The gourd displays a rough finish, with no added decoration or visible polishing, which is fully in keeping with Wabi-sabi aesthetics and current tribal trends. The irregular surface condition, with slight cracks and oxidation marks, gives the object an antique and natural character. The long, curved peduncle is firmly attached to the upper part, adding a graphic touch to the whole.
This type of dried, untreated gourd is appreciated for interior decoration, particularly in ethnic, rustic or nature-inspired settings. Its organic silhouette and patinated appearance make it easy to integrate into bohemian or Wabi-sabi ambiences, where imperfection and raw materials are sought after. The object is photographed on a wooden table, in an interior with ancient architecture, which highlights its authenticity and decorative potential.
The visible surface shows some signs of wear, natural stains and small imperfections, typical of old gourds. No decoration, inscription or marking is visible on the side shown. The whole is stable, with a beautiful visual presence thanks to its generous volumes and warm colour.

Did you know? The gourd, fruit of Lagenaria siceraria, has been used for millennia worldwide to make containers, musical instruments or ritual objects. Its resistance and lightness make it a privileged material for traditional crafts in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
