Description This antique engraving depicts a general view of the city of Algiers, as seen from the port. The black and white image is richly detailed and highlights the urban architecture, the quays, and the relief in the background. The visual's frame, typical of late 19th-century illustrations, features the inscription "LA FRANCE ILLUSTRÉE PAR V.-A. MALTE-BRUN" at the top, along with a central coat of arms.

The scene shows a lively panorama, with figures visible on the quays and a plunging perspective over the sea. The bottom of the illustration mentions "Alger" in capitals and "Algérie générale." on the left, confirming the subject of the engraving. The artist's signature appears at the bottom right, although the precise name is difficult to read in the photo.

The paper has a slightly yellowed appearance, characteristic of old prints, without added coloration. No modern framing is visible; the engraving is presented alone, placed on a wooden table, which allows appreciation of the print quality and paper grain.

The graphic style, composed of fine hatching and subtle contrasts, is typical of engraving and editorial illustration processes from the second half of the 19th century. This piece clearly comes from an illustrated work, probably an original or early edition of the collection "La France Illustrée" edited by Victor-Adolphe Malte-Brun.

The engraving retains its original margins, with clear inscriptions and precise lines. No tears, major creases, or prominent stains are visible on the exposed side, although slight age-related traces may be present.

Condition Used item sold as is, with signs of age and a beautiful authentic patina. Contractual photo, only visible areas are guaranteed to be compliant.
