ENAG Quimper vintage marine boat navigation rudder angle indicator
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Steering angle indicator from the brand ENAG (Quimper), designed for marine navigation, as shown in the photo. This instrumentation dial features a classic circular shape, with a matte black face and precise white markings. The central needle, light in color, currently points to zero. The graduated scale indicates the steering angle measurement in degrees, from -40 to +40, with "PORT" on the left and "STARBOARD" on the right, allowing immediate visualization of the ship's rudder position.
The lower part of the dial displays the inscription "ANGLE DE BARRE" (STEERING ANGLE), as well as a nameplate: "ENAG s.a. QUIMPER Tel: 55.19.97", typical of professional navigation instruments produced in France. The rim of the dial has a metallic-looking finish, which appears original and offers a robust and utilitarian touch, in keeping with marine use.
The item is presented in a light blue fabric-lined case with a gold-colored metal clasp, highlighting the contrast between the technical instrument and a more refined presentation context. No other accessories or parts are visible in the photo.
The dial shows some minor surface wear (particularly on the rim), indicating prior use but without affecting the readability of the graduations or the sharpness of the inscriptions. No cracks, chips, or major deformation are visible on this face.
This type of instrument was commonly used on fishing boats, pleasure craft, or professional vessels to visually control the rudder angle from the bridge. This is an authentic piece of marine navigation equipment, both technical and decorative, appreciated for its vintage industrial aesthetic.
