Description
French military unit badge presented in its original case, visible in the photo. This is a badge of the 4th Artillery Regiment (4e RA), recognizable by the "4e RA" inscription in gold on the support and its characteristic emblem. The emblem is rectangular with a rounded base, with a red and blue background, surmounted by three golden fleurs-de-lis on a blue background, with the inscription "1720" in gold. In the center, a stylized black and gold helmet is depicted, crossed by two red cannons, and a radiating golden sun occupies the bottom of the emblem. The whole is encircled by a golden border. This type of badge, often called an "escutcheon" or "enameled badge", is typical of regimental badges distributed to members of the French army.
The badge is presented in a rigid translucent red plastic case, which protects the item and highlights its vibrant colors. The dominant colors are blue, red, gold, and black, with a glossy finish on the surface of the emblem. The case is in good visual condition, with no visible cracks on the visible side, and offers a neat presentation of the badge.
The central motif combines traditional artillery symbols: helmet, crossed cannons, and sun, evoking the history and mission of the regiment. The three fleurs-de-lis recall the French royal heritage. The inscription "1720" refers to the creation date or a significant event of the regiment.
This military badge is typical of 20th century French manufacturing, with an enamel technique applied to visible metal. No manufacturer's mark is visible on the front. The reverse side or attachment system is not visible in the photo.
The presentation in a case suggests an official presentation or careful conservation, making it an emblematic object for French military history and regimental symbolism.
