Description

An old military crest-style badge, visible under a rigid red plastic display case. The badge features a dark blue shield with a golden border, adorned in its center with a stylized golden fleur-de-lys. In the background, a vertical silver sword crosses the crest from top to bottom, its point extending upwards and the hilt downwards. Below the crest, the letters "EAI" appear in gold, typically associated with the French Infantry Application School (École d'Application de l'Infanterie).

The piece is well presented in its original case, which appears period and highlights the official nature of this badge. The contrast between the deep blue of the shield, the gold of the fleur-de-lys, and the silver finish of the sword gives the whole a great readability and a solemn appearance, characteristic of 20th-century French military badges.

The visible side shows no number, nor any other mention or apparent marking. The whole is arranged on a red felt support, protected by a molded transparent cover. The presentation suggests a badge given during a ceremony or intended to be kept as a souvenir.

The style of the crest, the shape of the fleur-de-lys, and the typography of the letters "EAI" are typical of French military production from the second half of the 20th century. The object may thus interest anyone looking for a military school badge or a symbol of French infantry, also known as a military badge or pin.

The overall condition of the object, seen through the display case, appears good. There is a slight patina and some marks of use on the plastic box, with no visible impact on the badge itself.

Condition

Second-hand item, sold as is. The badge appears in good condition, with signs of wear on the presentation box consistent with its age.

Did you know? The Infantry Application School (École d’Application de l’Infanterie – EAI), founded in 1942, played a key role in the training of French infantry officers and non-commissioned officers. Its official badge, emblematic of the institution, combines the fleur-de-lys — a symbol of French military tradition — and the sword, representing commitment and defense.
