AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Old military badge of the 4th Chasseur Regiment (4e RCH), presented in its original box. The badge features an enameled escutcheon in light blue and red, surrounded by a golden border. At the top is the inscription "CLERMONT" in gold letters, while the bottom bears the inscription "PRINCE". In the center of the escutcheon, three golden fleurs-de-lis are arranged on a blue background, accompanied by a silver hunting horn adorned with the number 4. The whole evokes military heraldic heritage and belonging to a traditional unit.
The finish of the badge has an enameled appearance with vibrant colors and sharp details. The escutcheon is highlighted by a red border with a striped effect, emphasizing the contrast with the central blue. The badge is placed in a rigid dark box, on which "4e RCH" is written in gold letters. The ensemble reflects a style characteristic of French military badges from the second half of the 20th century.
The visible side does not show a manufacturer's signature or any other apparent additional markings. The badge appears to be fixed on a display support, which protects its enamel and gilding. The overall condition of the object shows traces of dust and some superficial marks on the box, with no major defects on the enameled part of the escutcheon itself.
This type of badge was intended for members of the 4th Chasseur Regiment, an armored cavalry regiment of the French army. It stands out for its traditional iconography – fleurs-de-lis and hunting horn – which recall the royal origins and the reconnaissance role of light cavalry.
The presentation in its original box enhances the authentic and heritage aspect of the object. The ensemble is a material testament to French military history, combining unit symbolism and enameled manufacturing quality.
