Description

Ancient shield-shaped military badge, associated with French national service, indicated by the inscription "CdS 9" in green letters on a light background at the top. The badge features an escutcheon structure surmounted by a band, with a metallic finish showing patination. The central part is adorned with a winged sphinx in relief, a traditional symbol often used in military heraldry for its significance of vigilance and strength. The whole rests on a dark backing, probably designed to be sewn or attached to a uniform, with a round hanging hole at the top.

The decoration is composed of sculpted details, including the stylized plumage of the sphinx's wings, its hair and paws, as well as the rectangular frame surrounding the central figure.
