Description
Old precision instrument visible in its original case, signed by H. Morin, engineer and manufacturer of precision instruments at 11 rue Dulong, Paris. The object presented in the wooden box is a cylindrical apparatus with a metallic finish, featuring an adjustment knob and several engraved markings on a visible scale on the surface. The ensemble testifies to careful craftsmanship, typical of French scientific instruments from the early to mid-20th century.
The visible face shows a robust, precisely machined structure. The main body features fine graduations, as well as engraved markings, probably intended for micrometric measurements or adjustments. Two knurled knobs, one at the end and the other lateral, allow for precise adjustment, suggesting use in a laboratory or workshop for high-precision controls.
The wooden case, with brass hinges, is lined with green felt partially visible inside the lid and at the base. The interior label bears the inscription "H. Morin Ingénieur – Constructeur d’instruments de précision – 11 rue Dulong – Paris", confirming the authenticity and Parisian origin of the object. No other legible inscription appears on the visible part of the apparatus.
The metallic surface of the instrument shows a homogeneous patina, with some signs of use and slight traces of oxidation, typical of an old instrument that has been used. The screws and adjustment elements appear complete and functional on the exposed side. The whole is carefully secured in its original case, which also shows signs of age, particularly in the felt lining.
This type of object is often used for metrology applications, quality control, or in scientific education, particularly in the context of precision mechanics or applied physics. The design and materials used are characteristic of professional French scientific instruments from the early to mid-20th century.
