Description

This document is an original copy of the old newspaper titled "Bref...", dated Thursday, March 28, 1929, as indicated in the header. The front page visible in the photograph features a typical layout of French press from the 1920s, with a large title banner in capital letters and a subtitle "Le Guide de l’Acheteur de Tableaux" (The Buyer's Guide to Paintings). The paper displays a slightly yellowed cream hue, characteristic of vintage prints, testifying to its age.

The newspaper is printed on a large sheet, folded in half, with a central column and articles spread across the width. The texts are composed in traditional typography, with drop caps and bold titles. The visible articles cover cultural and artistic subjects, including a guide to buying paintings and a column on French theater and the Odéon. The margins and layout conform to the standards of periodicals from the late 1920s.

The top section clearly displays the edition number: "Hebdomadaire – N° 39" (Weekly – No. 39). The visible subscription address is "9, Rue Louis-le-Grand, Paris", which places the newspaper in the context of Parisian press of the interwar period. The precise date, "Jeudi 28 Mars 1929" (Thursday, March 28, 1929), highlights the authenticity of this issue and its historical value. No graphic logo is apparent, but the typography of the title "BREF..." is imposing and immediately recognizable.

Visually, the newspaper shows signs of moderate wear consistent with its age: the paper has slight undulations and a uniform patina. There are no major stains, clear tears, or visible missing parts on the photographed side. The edges are generally clean, although a slight curve is observable at the upper right corner.

The inscriptions and articles are perfectly legible on the presented page. An editorial signed "JEAN-BERNARD" is at the bottom of the column. Other visible elements include indications about the inner pages ("Voyez nos billets-primes pages 6 et 8" - See our bonus tickets pages 6 and 8) and a subscription price ("Six francs par an" - Six francs per year), reinforcing the document's authenticity as a period periodical.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. Copy in good overall condition for a 1929 newspaper, with patina and minor signs of wear visible on the exposed side.

Did you know? The newspaper "Bref..." is part of the tradition of Parisian cultural weeklies of the interwar period, a time when the written press experienced considerable growth. Paris was then the nerve center of artistic and literary life, and many specialized periodicals emerged to accompany the art market, guide enthusiasts, and report on cultural news.
