Description

This document is an original issue of the professional journal "Le Journal des Brodeuses", dated February 1, 1952, as indicated at the top of the page. This periodical, specializing in the art of embroidery, was published in Lyon, at 22 rue d'Algérie, under the direction of F. Laurent. The cover illustrates a particularly decorative floral aesthetic, typical of the layout of professional publications from the early 1950s. The title is printed in an elaborate typography surrounded by stylized floral motifs.

The visible page presents a large embroidery pattern for a "bib brassiere", accompanied by a summary listing various pieces and motifs offered in this issue: sheet, cradle tablecloth, bib, child's dress, combination, mark, pouch, alphabet for sheets, handkerchiefs, etc. The designs are clear, in black on a cream background, and show refined decorative details for professional or amateur embroiderers of the time.

In the margin, several handwritten ink annotations are visible, probably from a former owner. The paper has a slightly yellowed cream tint, typical of old prints, as well as an irregular cut on the upper right corner. The main inscriptions are perfectly legible: "Le Journal des Brodeuses", "Journal professionnel de broderie", "37e année", "1er février 1952", "N° 6882".

The table of contents, located on the left side, specifies the diversity of models and alphabets offered in this edition, confirming that it is indeed a technical journal intended for textile creation and embroidery. The large central illustration is a full-size pattern, with an indication of the price for receiving the design on separate paper.

The exposed page only shows the front of the issue; it is not possible to describe the back or interior from the image provided. The whole reflects a graphic style typical of the 1950s, with great attention paid to floral ornamentation and the clarity of technical motifs.
