Description

This lot features an original copy of the illustrated newspaper "Lisette," a weekly publication for young girls, dated Sunday, August 13, 1933. The easily recognizable cover presents a polychrome illustration in the typical interwar style, depicting a bustling street scene with a sedan chair and characters in period costumes. The main visual is framed by the title "Lisette" in blue cursive letters on an oval background, flanked by two stylized roses.

In the upper left, the issue number is clearly indicated: "N° 33 – Thirteenth year (631st delivery)." The mention "16 Pages" appears in a yellow box, while the original price "25 centimes" is clearly visible on the right. The phrase "Journal des fillettes" specifies the editorial target. The cover shows the characteristic wear of old newspaper: yellowed tint, slightly creased edges, and scattered small stains due to aging.

The cover illustration is carefully crafted, with colorful details and sharp outlines, typical of children's publications from the 1930s. The caption "Pour avoir manqué de patience." (For having lacked patience.) appears below the image, referring to a story to be found on the inside pages. No handwritten inscriptions or annotations are visible on the presented face.

The newspaper's structure is stapled on the left (binding visible), with a slight bulging of the paper on the spine. The whole remains in good condition despite the marks of time. No major missing parts or apparent tears on the front cover. The format is that of a flexible periodical, easily handled.

This Lisette newspaper, with its illustrated cover from 1933, constitutes a valuable testimony to youth press in France during the interwar period, both for its graphics and its editorial content.
