AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This lot features an original copy of the illustrated magazine for young girls "Lisette", dated Sunday, August 5, 1934, number 31 of the fourteenth year (682nd issue). The cover showcases a color illustration depicting a woman dressed in black, holding an umbrella, speaking to a little girl in a red dress in front of a stone wall, with a country house in the background. The title of the main story, "L'ENFANT DU NAUFRAGE (suite)" [The Child of the Shipwreck (continued)], appears at the bottom of the page.
The top banner displays the "Lisette" logo in a blue oval cartouche, flanked by two stylized roses. The mentions "16 Pages" and "Prix : 25 Centimes" [Price: 25 Centimes] are indicated in yellow boxes. The magazine is identified as "Journal des fillettes" [Girls' Magazine], published weekly, and edited in Paris. The issue number and date are clearly legible at the top of the cover.
The typical layout of 1930s youth press is respected, with a central illustration, titles in capital letters, and black outlines emphasizing the scene. The printing, in soft colors, shows a slight vintage patina on the paper, with visible yellowing, particularly on the edges. No details of the back or interior are visible in the provided photo.
The corners of the cover show moderate blunting, a few discreet stains, and a small fold on the bottom right are observable. The overall appearance remains easily readable, with no apparent tears on the visible side. The graphic and sartorial style of the illustration, as well as the typography, confirm the authenticity of a 1930s French youth periodical.
