Description

This issue of the old newspaper "Lisette", dated Sunday, June 16, 1935, is an authentic copy of the famous "Journal des fillettes". The cover features a color illustration titled "Tante Fanny's Cherry Tree," depicting two young girls and a boy picking cherries in a garden, a typical illustration of interwar youth imagery.

The title "Lisette" is inscribed in large white cursive letters on a blue background, surrounded by a yellow insert mentioning "16 Pages" and "Price: 25 Centimes." The presentation highlights the female youth target of the time, with every graphic detail – from typography to floral motifs – evoking the style of youth illustrated magazines of the 1930s.

At the top of the page, we find the mention "N° 24 – Fifteenth year (727th issue)," confirming the regularity and longevity of this weekly publication. The office address (1, rue Gazan, Paris XIVe) is also visible, as well as the price and precise publication date.

The very colorful cover illustration depicts three characters dressed in period attire, in a bucolic setting. The colors have remained vibrant despite time, with a striking contrast between the patterned dresses and the orchard background. The caption "Tante Fanny's Cherry Tree" is clearly printed below the image, with an indication at the bottom right "See the story (Pages 8 and 9)."

The paper shows visible signs of wear, including brown stains, slight marks, and a period patina, typical of old newspapers. The corners are slightly dog-eared, and the spine shows small marks, without affecting the readability or the vintage charm of the document.

Condition

This newspaper is a used item, sold as is with its traces of time: patina, stains, blunted corners, visible signs of use on the cover.

Did you know? The periodical "Lisette" was one of the most popular youth weeklies in France from 1921 to 1973, primarily aimed at young girls. It offered illustrated stories, comic strips, and practical advice, and marked several generations with the quality of its illustrations and narratives.
