Description

This old issue of the "Lisette" newspaper is dated Sunday, February 10, 1935, identifiable on the cover. It is issue No. 6 of the fifteenth year (709th delivery), intended for young female readers and subtitled "Journal des fillettes" (Girls' Newspaper). The visible cover features a polychrome illustration titled "Le Collier de Jade (Suite)" (The Jade Necklace - Part), depicting an oriental market scene with several characters in traditional clothing, a donkey, exposed carpets, and a backdrop of paved alleyways. The dominant colors are beige, yellow, green, and blue, typical of interwar youth imagery.

The layout announces a 16-page issue, with the "Lisette" logo in stylized blue and gold lettering, framed by red roses and green foliage. The original price is clearly visible: 25 centimes. The editorial office address (1, rue Gazan, Paris XIVe) is also printed at the bottom of the banner. The mention "Parait chaque semaine" (Published weekly) highlights the newspaper's periodicity, which was very popular with young female audiences of the time.

The overall condition of the cover shows a uniform patina, typical of period paper: yellowing, slightly blunted corners, and visible handling marks on the edges. No major missing parts or tears are visible on the front. The illustration remains perfectly legible and retains good color vibrancy for an example from this period.

This type of youth periodical, published during the interwar period, is sought after for the richness of its illustrations and the representation of the children's imagination of the time. "Le Collier de Jade" is the title of the illustrated story highlighted in this issue, the continuation of which is inside the issue (see page 16, printed mention).

The typography, graphic style, and composition are characteristic of French youth press from the early 1930s, with a narrative and descriptive aesthetic adapted for young female readers. The visible details (clothes, objects, animals) demonstrate a documentary concern and an attraction to exoticism in children's literature of the time.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The cover shows signs of wear and tear from use (rubbed corners, patina, slight marks on the paper). No major missing parts or folds on the visible front. Interior and back not visible in the photo.
