Detailed visual description

This satirical press issue corresponds to the newspaper Charlie Hebdo, edition no. 213, dated Monday, December 16, 1974. The easily recognizable cover features a typical 70s design, with an imposing title "CHARLIE HEBDO" in vivid red at the top of the page, on an off-white background. The subtitle "après Peugeot-Citroën" is printed in black, followed by the central slogan "CACHOU ABSORBE ZAN" in large black letters, very visible and characteristic of the graphic style of the time.

The illustrated part shows two stylized profiles, each facing the other, connected by a sinuous red band evoking a tongue or an absorbed object, in the minimalist and provocative graphic style typical of the newspaper. A small "G." at the bottom right suggests the signature of the cover artist. The edges of the front page show a slight patina and some handling marks, testifying to its age.

The layout is typical of Charlie Hebdo issues from the 1970s, with direct graphics, a strong contrast between black, red, and the light background, and a composition centered on the satirical message. No other text or visual is visible on this side, apart from the issue number, date, price, and country indications at the top, printed in small type.

The newspaper is presented open on a surface, showing only the cover (front). There is moderate wear on the edges, some signs of aging, and slight traces of dirt, without major alteration to the graphics or the main text.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. Cover with usage patina, slightly blunted corners, visible handling marks and storage traces, typical of a period newspaper. No major tears or loss of legibility on the visible side.

Did you know? Charlie Hebdo, relaunched in 1970, established itself as one of France's most influential satirical newspapers, particularly through its striking covers and graphic humor. Issues from the 70s, like this one, are sought after for their editorial impertinence and bold visual style, reflecting the freedom of tone of the alternative press of the time.
