AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This lot offers an original copy of the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, shown here as the front page of issue number 215, dated Monday, December 30, 1974. The cover features a striking layout, typical of 1970s satirical press, with large black and red characters on a light background. The main headline, "LE CANCER VAINCU EN 1976" (CANCER CONQUERED IN 1976), is displayed in red capital letters, followed by provocative black text, perfectly illustrating the newspaper's irreverent tone.
The front page is distinguished by a clean graphic composition, focusing on the power of the text. The margins are regular, and the slightly matte texture of the paper, typical of newspaper prints from that era, is visible in the photo. The issue number, date, and price are located in the upper left: "N° 215 — Lundi 30 décembre 1974 — 3 F" (No. 215 — Monday, December 30, 1974 — 3 F).
This issue of Charlie Hebdo is among the emblematic publications of the French alternative press of the seventies, known for its dark humor and satirical stances on current events. No illustration or photograph is present on this cover, which further emphasizes the power of the printed message.
Some normal signs of age-related wear are observable: slight handling marks and tiny creases on the edges, mainly visible on the upper right corner. No major tears are apparent on the visible side. The period typography and text arrangement testify to the graphic style unique to Charlie Hebdo in the 70s.
The front page is presented on a dark wooden easel, which is not included in the sale. Only the front side of the newspaper is visible in the photo; no information about the internal content or the back is available.
