Description

This Japanese LaserDisc features an edition of the anime series "Astro Boy" (also known as Atom or Tetsuwan Atom), created by Osamu Tezuka. The cover, visible in the photo, is square-shaped and displays a black-and-white graphic in the center, depicting the main character, Astro Boy, in an iconic scene. Japanese inscriptions dominate the upper part of the jacket, while the "LaserDisc" logo appears in the upper right, confirming the format of the medium.

The central visual highlights an image from the animation, characteristic of the graphic style of the 60s to 80s, with the number "30" clearly visible below the illustration. Several lines of Japanese text are also visible below the image, probably indicating the episode titles included in this edition. The whole is presented on a lightly textured white background, typical of vintage Japanese LaserDisc editions.

In the bottom left corner of the cover, the "LD" (LaserDisc) logo is clearly visible, confirming the authenticity of the format. The item appears to still be in its original plastic film, which is a notable point for the preservation of the jacket and its contents. No other graphic or decorative details are visible on the front, the presentation remaining sober and faithful to the aesthetic of Japanese LaserDisc editions of anime series.

Condition

The item is used and sold as-is. The visible side shows a clean, well-preserved jacket, with some light signs of wear on the plastic film. No major defects are apparent in the photo; the overall presentation remains very good for a medium of this type.

Did you know? Osamu Tezuka, creator of Astro Boy (Tetsuwan Atom), is considered the "god of manga" in Japan. The Astro Boy anime series, which first aired in 1963, was one of the first Japanese animated television series and largely contributed to the rise of anime worldwide. The LaserDisc format, popularized in the 1980s and 1990s, offered superior image quality to VHS, making it a preferred choice for Japanese anime series editions.
