Laserdisc Le Père Noël est une Ordure Pioneer Vintage Comedy Illustrated Sleeve
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Collectible Laserdisc featuring the famous French comedy "Le Père Noël est une Ordure" (Santa Claus is a Rotter), presented here in its Pioneer edition. The visible side shows the original cover, recognizable by its colorful illustrated graphics, on a light blue background with a red border. The poster, true to the aesthetic of the 1980s, highlights the handwritten title in bright red on a yellow panel, accompanied by drawn portraits of the film's main actors. The names of the actors – Anémone, Balasko, Chazel, Clavier, Jugnot, Lhermitte, and Moynot – are aligned at the top of the sleeve, with the mention "Collection Pioneer Comédies" and the LaserDisc logo visible on the upper part.
The graphic presentation is typical of vintage Laserdisc editions, with a large central illustration and inserts for credits and cast. The name of the director "Jean-Marie Poiré" is also visible, as well as the actor Martin Lamotte and the participation of Jacques François. The overall design evokes the promotional style of 80s French cinema, with an airy layout and bold colors.
The medium is a Laserdisc video disc, identifiable by the "LaserDisc" logo at the bottom left and on the upper right part of the cover. The sleeve appears to be made of rigid cardboard, as is usual for this type of medium. The ensemble is placed on an antique wooden table, which highlights the contrast between the vintage object and the period furniture.
The cover shows some visible signs of wear: there are light marks or stains on the left side as well as slight marks on the edges, typical of an object that has been used or stored for several decades. However, the colors remain clearly legible, and the illustration is not altered in the central area.
This Laserdisc is therefore an emblematic piece for lovers of vintage French cinema, particularly sought after for the quality of its illustrated cover and the cult aura of the represented film.

Did you know? The Laserdisc was one of the first consumer optical video formats, launched in the late 1970s. It was renowned for its superior image quality compared to VHS, but its bulky format and high cost limited its distribution, particularly in Europe. French editions of cult films, such as "Le Père Noël est une Ordure," are now sought after for their historical value and the quality of their illustrated covers.
