This illustrated envelope corresponds to a First Day Cover (FDC) dated June 28, 1969, dedicated to the church of Saint-Savin-sur-Gartempe. On the visible side, there is a polychrome medieval-style illustration, depicting a scene from the 12th-century frescoes of the church, with a seated figure in front of three other figures. The image highlights the historical heritage of the edifice, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The envelope bears the inscription "PREMIER JOUR D’ÉMISSION – HISTORIQUE" (FIRST DAY OF ISSUE – HISTORICAL), the number 687, and the text "Saint-Savin-sur-Gartempe – Saint Cyprien devant le juge Ladicius (fresque du XII^e siècle)" (Saint-Savin-sur-Gartempe – Saint Cyprian before Judge Ladicius (12th-century fresco)).
