Description

This illustrated philatelic envelope is a First Day Cover (FDC) issued to commemorate the States General of the Municipalities of Europe, organized in Cannes in 1960. On the front, the envelope features a stylized map of Western Europe, with red dots marking several locations, accompanied by a large, raised green and white flag. The inscription "PREMIER JOUR D'ÉMISSION F.D.C. HISTORIQUE" is clearly legible in the upper right, as is "ÉTATS GÉNÉRAUX DES COMMUNES D'EUROPE CANNES 1960" in the lower left.

A franked postage stamp is visible in the lower right corner, also featuring a flag motif. Two round postmarks are affixed to the front, bearing the inscription "ÉTATS GÉNÉRAUX DES COMMUNES D'EUROPE - CANNES" and the date March 5, 1960, confirming the authenticity of the First Day cancellation. The overall presentation of the envelope is neat, protected by a transparent plastic sleeve.

The surface of the envelope shows a clear print, with vivid colors (green, red, brown, and white) and graphics typical of the early 1960s. The numbering "No 5182" is printed on the front, suggesting a limited series or a numbered print. A small handwritten label with the number "101" is affixed to the plastic sleeve, likely for inventory management.

This type of FDC (First Day Cover) envelope is sought after for its commemorative illustration, specific cancellation, and historical link to a major European event. The visible front shows no apparent major defects, apart from some reflections due to the plastic protection; no tears, folds, or stains are visible in the observed area.

Condition

Used item sold as is, protected in a plastic sleeve. The visible front is in good overall condition, with no notable defects on the illustration or stamp. The postmarks and inscriptions are clear and legible.
