Description

Old 19th-century manuscript document, dated February 19, 1814, written in brown ink on old laid paper. The text mentions an extract from the minutes of the registry of the Civil Court of First Instance sitting in Saint-Étienne, Loire department.

The document features beautiful administrative calligraphy, with thick and thin strokes characteristic of judicial and notarial acts from the early 19th century. A 75-centime circular tax stamp is visible, with the mention Empire Français, as well as several signatures and registration notes on the back.

The whole retains its original documentary character: old folds, handwritten annotations, traces of registration, and formal organization specific to registry acts.

Context

Dated 1814, this document belongs to the period of the First Empire, at the end of Napoleon's reign. Administrative and judicial acts from this era were generally handwritten by the registries, then validated by notes, signatures, and tax stamps. This type of stamped paper served as an official medium for civil acts, extracts of minutes, and registered procedures.

Condition

Used antique item, sold as is. The paper shows a natural patina, customary folds, foxing, handling marks, browning at the edges, and small marginal wear consistent with its age. The writing remains largely legible, with a beautiful graphic presence.
