Description

Old handwritten letter dated February 8, 1899, written in ink on "Henry Dupoux, Nantes" letterhead. The letter is carefully folded in half, lying flat on a wooden desk, next to two antique bound volumes with dark brown covers and aged edges. The French text is handwritten in elegant, slanted cursive script, typical of the late 19th century. The first line specifies the date and year, followed by the salutation "Mon cher Henri", reinforcing the personal and friendly nature of the correspondence.

The missive evokes marks of friendly affection, according to the keywords and what the visible text structure suggests. The signature "Dufoury" appears clearly at the bottom of the page, adding to the authenticity and value of this period correspondence. The paper's margins show a slight, uniform yellowing, with no major stains or apparent signs of moisture on the visible side, indicating proper conservation for an 1899 document.

The paper used is lined, ivory-toned, with a fine texture visible in the light. The dark blue ink remains clearly legible throughout the page. No specific illustration, watermark, or ornament appears on the visible side, with the exception of the printed "Henry Dupoux Nantes" letterhead in the upper right corner.

The letter is presented on an antique desk, which highlights its authenticity and historical context. The books visible in the background, with their worn bindings and gilded edges, reinforce the atmosphere of archives and written heritage.

Condition

Used item, in good overall condition for its age and sold as is. The visible side shows no tears or major stains, with clear handwriting and a legible signature. The presence of creases and a slight yellowing of the paper are consistent with the period.
