Description

This lot consists of three period handwritten sheets, featuring authentic correspondence written in blue ink. The letters are carefully handwritten in a cursive style typical of the mid-20th century. Each page reveals dense, consistent handwriting, characteristic of private and personal correspondence, likely addressed to a loved one during the 1939-1945 period, as suggested by the keywords provided.

The visible documents show papers of slightly different formats, one of which is fine-squared and the other two are small-squared or lined. The well-preserved blue ink indicates careful writing and a desire to convey important news or thoughts. Handwritten margins and structured paragraphs are clearly distinguishable.

The first sheet, in the upper left, begins with the salutation "Dear Pierre," indicating a personal tone and a family or friendly context. The signature "Doulette" appears at the bottom of this page, reinforcing the authenticity and historical interest of the lot. The other two dense and continuous letters show handwriting from the same hand or in a similar style, with great regularity in character size and text layout.

The paper shows a slight period patina, with clean edges and some discreet signs of wear, typical of old papers that have lasted several decades. No decoration or illustration is visible, confirming that this is pure handwritten correspondence, without any graphic additions.

The scene is photographed on an old wooden desk, near a bookcase filled with bound books, evoking a historical and literary context. No reverse side or text on the back is visible in the image, in accordance with the instruction to describe only the exposed side.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The sheets show slight wear and a uniform patina, with no tears or apparent stains on the visible side. The blue ink remains clearly legible on all exposed pages.

Did you know? Handwritten correspondence during World War II was often the only link between families separated by the conflict, with letters sometimes taking several weeks to reach their destination. The shortage of paper and ink contributed to the diversity of materials and formats used at the time.
