Description
This old handwritten letter, an authentic document from the 1939-1945 period, is presented on three large sheets of paper laid side by side. The blue ink handwriting bears witness to private wartime correspondence, addressed to a woman, as indicated by the first visible lines ("My dearest Émilie"). The text, covering the entirety of the pages, is densely written with regular cursive calligraphy, typical of mid-20th century correspondence.
The three visible sheets are slightly yellowed, a sign of natural paper aging, enhancing their character as historical archives. The edges show some handling marks and slight creases, particularly on the corners. The blue ink remains well-contrasted, although some areas show slight discoloration or traces of moisture, without affecting the overall legibility of the text.
The letter's style, wording, and handwritten layout are characteristic of the World War II period, with an explicit mention of the year 1944 on the first page ("Albi, July 25, 1944"). No pre-printed header or illustration is visible; the layout is entirely handwritten, reflecting intimate and personal correspondence.
On the reverse, no information is visible in the photo; only the front side of the three sheets is shown. The lines are close together, with a regular left margin. The letter is placed on a wooden desk in front of a bookshelf filled with old books, adding to the authentic atmosphere of the ensemble.
The sheets exhibit a consistent patina, with slight handling marks at the corners, typical of a document that has survived decades. No postal stamp, envelope, or external annotation is visible on this side.
