Description

Old handwritten letter, dated 1940, visible in the photograph. The lot includes several handwritten sheets in black and blue ink, accompanied by a partially visible envelope. The handwritten address "Madame Paul" as well as the first name "Marguerite" are legible, confirming the correspondence was addressed to a recipient named Marguerite. The text, handwritten, displays a cursive script typical of the early to mid-20th century, with personal phrasing and continuous paragraphs. Certain phrases, such as "Mon cher Dumar" (My dear Dumar), "Marie et tu gardera" (Marie and you will keep), or "Marguerite Paul," appear distinctly on the sheets.

The letter is written on light-colored paper, without visible watermark or ornamentation, and shows clean edges, with the exception of one sheet with a slightly torn upper corner. The handwritten text occupies the entire visible surface, and the black ink has retained good legibility despite its age. The associated envelope, partially inserted under the sheets, also bears visible handwritten inscriptions: "Etienne," "Madame Paul," and a partial address, confirming the authenticity of a period postal dispatch.

The writing style, presentation, and vocabulary clearly place this letter in the context of the 1940s. No decorative elements or illustrations are present on the visible sides. The set is photographed in front of a row of old bound books, which highlights the historical character of this epistolary document.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The sheets show a slight patina due to age, some creases, and a small tear on one corner of a sheet. The writing remains legible in all visible areas. The envelope shows wear consistent with its age.
