Description

Handwritten letter from the World War II era, dated August 8, 1941, accompanied by its original stamped envelope. The document is presented open, revealing gray ink handwriting on a lined page, typical of 1940s stationery. The handwritten header states the date "August 8, 41" and begins with "Dear Mom," indicating family correspondence. The letter is handwritten, with regular and legible cursive script on the visible part. A passage in the text mentions the receipt of bread and chocolate parcels, testifying to the context of restrictions at the time.

The envelope visible on the back bears a handwritten address: "Mme Blanc, Campagne Fouquet, La Balade par Rey-Ricard, B. du Rh.", with a red stamp and a postmark dated 1941. The paper shows slight signs of use, some handling marks and a small brown mark on the right of the sheet, typical of old documents preserved for several decades.

The writing style, the format of the lined paper, and the ink used are characteristic of private correspondence from the first half of the 20th century. The text is partially legible in the photo, illustrating the daily life and concerns of a correspondent during World War II. The presentation in an old library setting reinforces the authentic and heritage character of the ensemble.

The original envelope, partially opened, accompanies the letter and also bears the franking marks of the time. These combined elements constitute a material and written testimony of the civilian context during World War II in France.
