Description

Old handwritten letter dated October 11, 1941, written in Sainte-Foy l'Argentière, clearly visible on the letterhead. This World War II era document is presented as a sheet folded in half, written in black ink. The first page reveals neat cursive handwriting, typical of the early 1940s, tenderly addressed to a child ("My dearest child").

The writing is fluid and legible, with well-spaced words and phrases, which makes it easy to read. The text mentions the eagerly awaited reception of a letter and encourages the child to write to their father more often. The paper has a slight patina, indicating its age, and the slightly yellowed cream color is consistent with the use and natural aging of paper from that period.

The visible front side has no decoration or illustration, but stands out for the sobriety and authenticity of its handwritten content. The inking, although slightly faded over time, remains visible over the entire written surface. There are some discreet signs of wear on the edges and a slight central fold corresponding to the original folding method.

The letter is photographed open, placed on a wooden desk, with an old bookcase in the background, which highlights its historical and heritage character. No publisher's mark or indication of specific material other than the traditional appearance of the paper is visible.

Condition

Used item, sold as is, with minor wear consistent with age: patina, original fold, slightly creased edges. The writing remains legible and the whole has an authentic charm.

Did you know? During World War II, family correspondence was an essential link between family members dispersed by the conflict. Handwritten letters were often carefully preserved, becoming direct testimonies of daily life under the Occupation or in rural France.
