Old handwritten letter 1945 WW2 with envelope Marseille vintage
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Old handwritten letter accompanied by its original envelope, visible in the photo. The set includes a cream-colored envelope, stamped and postmarked, addressed to "Madame V. Blanc, 180 Rue de Rome, Marseille". The red stamp and postal mark are clearly present and suggest a dispatch dated 1945, the immediate post-war period.
The letter, written in blue ink on lined paper, features cursive handwriting typical of the mid-20th century. Several pages are visible, with dense handwritten text and underlined or corrected passages, reflecting the spontaneity of the correspondence. The set offers a fine example of period stationery, with the paper slightly yellowed and a matte texture observable in the photograph.
The envelope shows signs of handling and a small mark of wear on one corner, but remains in overall good condition for its age. The handwritten address remains perfectly legible. The content of the letter, although partially visible, reveals common French terms, without illustrations or pre-printed letterheads, which attests to a private and authentic correspondence from World War II.
The photographed lot highlights the historical richness and authenticity of this set, with a careful presentation on a wooden background and antique books in the background, emphasizing the heritage character of the object. The blue ink is well preserved, without major smudges, and the paper structure shows slight folding marks, typical of being kept in an envelope for several decades.
This type of old letter constitutes a precious material testimony to daily life and personal exchanges at the end of World War II, particularly in the French context. The set is distinguished by the simultaneous presence of the letter and the envelope, allowing direct traceability of the sender and recipient, as well as precise dating thanks to the visible stamp and postal mark.
