AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Authentic handwritten letter dated 1948, written in Geneva, as indicated at the top of the page. This period document is written in blue ink on a slightly ivory-coloured white paper, with an irregular cut on the top edge characteristic of old papers. The letter is addressed to a person named Geneviève, clearly legible in the header ("Ma chère Geneviève").
The text, handwritten in a cursive script typical of the mid-20th century, occupies almost the entire visible side. Several visual details highlight the authenticity and age of the piece: a slight patina on the paper, corners rounded by use, and subtle undulations of the sheet. The handwritten address on the left margin ("26 rue des Bains, Genève") enhances the historical interest of the document.
The ink remains perfectly legible, with a uniform blue hue, free from major stains or visible smudges. The letter is placed on a wooden table, near old leather-bound books, which emphasizes its character as a historical archive. No watermark or logo is visible on the exposed side.
The content evokes family exchanges and news, typical of private post-war correspondence. The first words of the text are: "Ma chère Geneviève, De retour à Genève…" (My dear Geneviève, Back in Geneva…). Regular cursive writing fills the page, reflecting careful composition. The mention of first names, places, and personal circumstances testifies to an authentic and lively correspondence from the late 1940s.
The apparent format is that of a single sheet, with no fold or envelope visible in the photo. No decoration, printed pattern, or illustration appears on the exposed side; the sheet stands out by the sole strength of its handwritten script and the sober elegance of its presentation.

Used antique letter, sold as is. Presents a clean general appearance, with some natural signs of age (slight patina, rounded corners, irregular top edge). The ink remains perfectly legible on the visible side. Document is unrestored.
Did you know? Handwritten letters from the immediate post-war period (1945-1950) constitute valuable testimonies to daily life and family ties in Europe. Geneva, an international city, was a major centre for postal exchanges at that time, especially for families separated by the conflict or seeking news across borders.
