Old handwritten letter 1949 + stamped envelope Marseille Miss Blanc vintage
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Authentic handwritten letter dated December 16, 1949, accompanied by its original envelope with a legible stamp and postmark. The set includes a sheet of paper written in black ink in neat handwriting, as well as an envelope addressed to "Mademoiselle Geneviève Blanc, 100 rue de Rome, Marseille". The postmark clearly indicates the date of 1949, confirming the time of dispatch just after World War II.
The letter, carefully folded, is written on a white rectangular page (standard format for personal mail of the time). The text, clearly legible, evokes a personal and friendly tone. The handwritten script shows a regularity typical of mid-20th century correspondence. On the upper right part of the letter, the date "December 16, 1949" is handwritten.
The envelope, visible in the photograph, bears a red franked stamp and a round "Europe" postmark dated 12-17-49. The address is written in black ink, in elegant calligraphy, with the mention "Bouches-du-Rhône" under "Marseille". The overall condition of the envelope shows some folds and signs of use, typical for a period document, but the structure remains solid and the writing perfectly legible.
The letter itself shows no tears or visible stains on the exposed side. The ink is well preserved, with no noticeable fading. The paper shows a slight patina, indicating its age, but retains its full legibility and integrity on the side shown.
This lot constitutes a direct historical testimony of private post-war correspondence in France, with a clearly identified geographical provenance (Marseille, Bouches-du-Rhône) and precise dating. It will be appreciated for the quality of its preservation and the authenticity of its handwritten script.
