Description

Old handwritten letter dated 1952, addressed to a recipient named Marguerite, accompanied by its matching envelope. The letter is written in black ink on white paper, with an elegant cursive script typical of the mid-20th century. On the envelope visible in the background, the inscription "Pour Marguerite" (For Marguerite) is carefully calligraphed. The letter, partially unfolded, reveals text beginning with "De notre Monastier 30 di[ciembre] 52" and the opening "Ma bien chère Marguerite" (My dearest Marguerite), followed by several handwritten lines evoking personal feelings and spiritual reflections.

The paper has a slight relief and fine texture, characteristic of correspondence from that era, with no apparent watermark on the visible side. The ink is well-preserved, with no major smudges or discoloration. The top of the letter, carefully folded, shows the first page and part of the inner text, while the envelope, placed in the background, remains intact on the visible side, with no stamp or postal mark apparent.

The letter is written in a steady hand, demonstrating excellent mastery of calligraphy. No printed decoration or motif appears on the visible part, the whole remaining plain, consistent with epistolary customs of the 1950s. The photograph highlights the authentic and intimate aspect of this correspondence, which fits into the post-war context, with both a personal and spiritual tone.

The visible text evokes the Christmas period, the Nativity scene, and reflections on faithfulness and progress in faith, which gives this document both a historical and emotional dimension. The margins are regular, the central fold is visible but does not seem to impair readability in the shown area.

The background of the image, consisting of an old bookshelf, sets the letter in a classic environment, reinforcing the retro and authentic atmosphere of the object. No modern decorative elements are visible, which preserves the desired vintage aesthetic.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The envelope and letter show good overall preservation on the visible sides, with no tears or major apparent stains. Paper slightly yellowed by time, visible usage folds.
