Description

Old handwritten letter, written in black ink on "Pierre Deckmyn" letterhead, dated August 8, 1944 (handwritten note at the top right). The visible sheet has a classic rectangular format, with a slight horizontal central crease mark. The handwritten text occupies almost the entire visible side, with a regular and dense cursive script typical of the 1940s. The printed "PIERRE DECKMYN" (in capital letters) letterhead is at the top left, while the handwritten date is at the top right.

The paper has an off-white to slightly ivory hue, characteristic of period papers, with slight traces of patina and a subtly yellowed lower left corner. The edges are clean and show no visible tears on this side. The text begins with "Chéri," and the content, partially legible, suggests an intimate and personal tone, which enhances the historical and human interest of the document.

This document offers a direct testimony of daily life in wartime, written during the 1939-1945 period, as evidenced by the handwritten date and the style of the letterhead. No decoration, logo, or illustration is present on the visible side, with the exception of the typographical letterhead and the handwritten text.

The letter is photographed flat, placed on a dark wooden piece of furniture, accompanied in the background by a sculpted decorative object and a stack of old books, which are not for sale but highlight the vintage context. The overall presentation emphasizes the authenticity and sobriety of the period document.

The paper used appears to be of medium weight, with no visible watermark on this side. The black ink is well preserved, with no apparent smudges, and the writing remains perfectly legible. The writing style and presentation are typical of private correspondence from World War II.

Condition

Used letter, sold as is. Visible traces of use and period patina, slight crease marks, and a small yellowed area in the corner. No major missing parts, tears, or stains apparent on the visible side.
