Description

Handwritten letter from a young girl, dated Marseille, 1952, addressed to her mother. The document, visible in the photograph, shows a sheet of paper with a yellowed and slightly crumpled appearance, with irregularly dog-eared edges, typical of old use and frequent handling. The writing, neat and spontaneous, is in purple ink and occupies almost the entire visible side. A clear alternation of lines written by a child is distinguishable, with some passages in thicker or underlined letters, probably to emphasize certain words or signatures. The letter is handwritten, in a childlike style, with round and sometimes hesitant letters, which attests to the author's youth.

The text, largely legible, begins with "Marseille le 13/4/52" and is addressed to "à maman chérie" (to dear mummy). The young girl details her affectionate thoughts, mentions her grandmother and other family members, and ends with a signature "Hélène Serros qui te fait un mot" (Hélène Serros who sends you a word). The whole conveys a sincere emotion, reinforced by the childlike writing style and the touching awkwardness in the phrasing.

The visible colors are mainly those of the paper (cream hue, slightly yellowed by time) and purple ink, with some darker ink traces, probably due to stronger pen pressure. The support shows several marked creases, traces of handling, and small tears at the edges, especially in the upper corners. No back or reverse side of the letter is visible in the photo.

The letter is photographed on a dark wooden board background, alongside an old book with a red cover, which enhances the authentic, "early 50s" atmosphere of the whole. No decorative or ornamental elements are present on the letter itself, which stands out for the simplicity of its support and the strength of its handwritten message.

This type of handwritten child correspondence is a rare testimony to the family intimacy of the early 1950s, particularly moving due to the sincerity of the tone and the spontaneity of the writing. Ideal for anyone wishing to preserve an authentic trace of daily life and family exchanges from that era.
