Description

This lot consists of a handwritten letter in blue ink on graph paper, accompanied by its original envelope. The set is displayed flat on a dark wooden background, highlighting the contrast between the light paper and the handwritten script. The handwritten text is clearly legible and fills an entire page. The letter appears personal and intimate, evoking memories and daily events. The top of the page shows a handwritten page number ("8") in the upper right corner, indicating ongoing correspondence or a multi-page letter.

The envelope, partially visible at the bottom of the image, bears a handwritten address in blue ink: "Monsieur Serge Jullien, 34, rue Pavillon, Marseille (1er)". It is franked with a red and blue "République Française" 0.25 franc stamp, postmarked in the Drôme region. The partially visible postmark suggests a date from the 1950s-1960s, consistent with the stamp style and handwriting. The envelope is intact, with no visible tears, and the flap is not shown.

The letter paper shows horizontal and vertical fold marks, typical of a letter that has traveled by post. The blue ink remains strong, with no noticeable fading. No decoration or illustration is visible on the paper or the envelope; the presentation remains simple and typical of private correspondence from that period.

The letter refers to everyday places and activities (e.g., "day in Vienna", "cinema", "125 rue Montmartre"), which reinforces the authentic and personal nature of the correspondence. The writing style, the shape of the letters, and the appearance of the graph paper are characteristic of French correspondence from the second half of the 20th century.
