Vintage handwritten letter 60s Marseille old blue handwriting
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Old handwritten letter, consisting of two visible sheets, written in blue ink on hand-lined paper. The set features a cursive script typical of the mid-20th century, with neat phrasing and a sober presentation. One of the pages has a clearly legible date at the top right: "Halimand le 27-12-60", precisely dating this letter to the end of 1960. The text begins with "Cher Serge," indicating a personal correspondence addressed to a recipient named Serge, with polite formulas and birthday wishes mentioned on the second sheet.
The two sheets are arranged side by side on a dark wooden background, in an environment evoking an old library, with bound books visible in the background. The paper has an ivory tint, slightly yellowed by time, highlighting its age. The lines are regular and the writing remains perfectly legible over the entire visible surface.
The first sheet (on the left) is distinguished by a handwritten signature at the bottom, under the mention "Recevez mes plus sincères amitiés" (Receive my sincerest friendship), while the second (on the right) contains a longer text, with details about a Christmas gift and thanks addressed to the recipient. The ensemble illustrates a familial epistolary style typical of correspondence from the 1950s-60s.
The edges of the sheets are clean, with no visible tears or nicks on the displayed side. No major annotations, stains, or erasures appear on the visible surface, apart from a few creases due to original folding. The back and other sides are not visible in the photo and therefore cannot be described.
The lighting highlights the slightly satin texture of the paper, as well as the contrast between the blue ink and the light background. No decorative elements or illustrations are present: all attention is focused on the handwritten script and the epistolary content.

Did you know? Handwritten letters from the 1950s-60s were often written in blue or black ink, on lined paper or family letterhead. At that time, postal correspondence remained a preferred means of maintaining family ties, especially during holidays or birthdays, before the telephone became widely available in all homes.
